Working with the law firm Caroselli, Beachler, McTiernan, and Conboy, the Dover Group managed the media for several of the firm’s highest profile cases to ensure that their lawyers and clients were on message when speaking with reporters and to maximize the firm’s positive media coverage whenever possible.

In the ongoing “Kids for Cash” case, for example, one of the most egregious examples of judicial misconduct in the history of Pennsylvania, the Dover Group helped make sure the stories of the victims represented by CBMC were presented in a fair and accurate light by the media and helped prepare CBMC lawyers to speak to the media. The Dover Group also developed a website to help victims seeking representation connect with CBMC lawyers.

In the case of Kyler Van Nocker, the Dover Group worked with CBMC lawyers to tell the story of a 5-year-old boy whose insurance company denied him treatment for his life-threatening neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer. We put Kyler’s father and CBMC lawyers on national cable programs on MSNBC and Fox News Channel as well as local Philadelphia print and television outlets.

The Dover Group has also helped CBMC publicize several multi-million settlements and verdicts for the firm and promotes its lawyers as experts to broadcast and print producers and editors.

The Dover Group provided direct mail and strategic campaign communications, and online advocacy services to the Kansas Coalition for School Readiness. The mission of the collation was to support implementation and expansion of early education programs throughout the state of Kansas.

Our team successfully developed and executed a statewide issue campaign that resulted in an increase of $17 million in funding for early programs in Kansas.

Using a unique integrated approach, the Dover Group also provided strategic policy development support, oversaw grasstops and grassroots mobilization, and served as the primary advisor on message development, earned media strategy, and fundraising through grant research, staffing, and writing.

Building on the success of the first year of the campaign, the Dover Group’s efforts provided the political and grassroots support that allowed Governor Sebelius to recommend an historic $27 million investment in early learning programs in 2008.

Contributing to the success of the campaign was the online strategy that mobilized more than 5,000 grassroots supporters, early learning practitioners, law enforcement officials, and civic and business leaders across the state. The Dover Group’s approach to strategy, communications, and policy development resulted in increased access to voluntary, high quality early education programs for thousands of families and children.

A first-time candidate, Rob McCord competed in a heated primary against four well-known, established Democratic opponents. The Dover Group signed on with McCord early in the campaign to help develop his message, guide his communications operations, and launch his website.

With the Dover Group’s help McCord developed an effective, targeted, persuasive message that focused on his professional background and the economy at a time when Pennsylvania voters were growing increasingly anxious about their financial security.

His candidacy caught fire as he took his message around the state to deliver his pledge to use his business background to bring professionalism and expertise to the office.

Meanwhile, the McCord campaign raised more than $5 million providing him a 15 to 1 fundraising edge over his opponents.

Rob McCord was not expected to win the Democratic primary, but with the Dover Group’s strategic guidance, creativity, and support, he won handily in November and is the current Pennsylvania State Treasurer.
